How to troubleshoot and resolve minor malfunctions of a pipe bending machine?
Pipe bending machines inevitably experience minor malfunctions during use, which, if not addressed promptly, can escalate into major downtime issues. Mastering quick troubleshooting and repair techniques can help restore the equipment to its optimal condition quickly.

Common Minor Faults and Solutions
1. Equipment Does Not Start / No Movement
Troubleshooting: Is the emergency stop button pressed? Is there a missing phase in the power supply? Is the hydraulic oil level too low?
Solution: Release the emergency stop, check the power supply and fuses, and add hydraulic oil.
2. Inaccurate Bending Angle
Troubleshooting: Is the clamping die slipping? Is the springback compensation too small? Are the encoder screws loose?
Solution: Increase the clamping pressure, increase the bending angle value, and tighten the encoder coupling.
3. Wrinkling during pipe bending
Troubleshooting: Is the anti-wrinkle die clearance too large? Is the mandrel extension insufficient?
Solution: Reduce the anti-wrinkle die clearance (ensuring no jamming when fitting the pipe), and adjust the mandrel ball end to 0.5-1.5mm before the bending die cutting line.
4. Scratches on the pipe surface
Troubleshooting: Are there any accumulated chips or rust in the die grooves? Is the lubrication sufficient?
Solution: Clean the die and apply special pipe bending oil, remove burrs, or replace worn dies.
5. Excessive hydraulic noise
Troubleshooting: Is the oil level too low? Is the oil suction filter clogged? Is the oil emulsified?
Solution: Add oil to the mark, replace the filter, change the oil, and bleed the system.
6. Pressure gauge pointer jitter
Troubleshooting: Is there air in the system? Are pipe joints loose?
Solution: Repeatedly increase and decrease the pressure to release air, tighten joints.
7. Inaccurate feed length
Troubleshooting: Are the feed rollers slipping? Is the encoder coupling loose?
Solution: Adjust the roller clamping force, check and tighten the encoder.
8. Motor overheating
Troubleshooting: Is the motor operating under overload? Is the cooling fan damaged? Is the voltage too low?
Solution: Reduce processing specifications, clean dust from the air ducts, check the power supply.
Three Principles of Troubleshooting
External Before Internal: First check external factors such as switches, oil levels, and molds, then disassemble the internal components.
Easy Before Difficult: Start with tightening, cleaning, and lubrication; avoid blindly replacing parts.
Observe Before Acting: Observe oil stains, listen for unusual noises, and feel the temperature to determine the cause before operating.

Early detection and quick handling of minor faults are the best strategies for ensuring the efficient operation of the pipe bending machine.
