Common installation problems of pipe bending machines, you may want to pay attention to them.

When it comes to pipe bending machine installation, I've seen far too many people oversimplify it. The machine arrives, they unload it with a forklift, place it on the ground, plug it in, and start working—only to encounter problems within a couple of days: angle deviation, excessive vibration, and inconsistent pipe bending. In reality, many problems are already brewing during the installation phase.

Site preparation is crucial.

The ground conditions must be thoroughly assessed even before the machine arrives. CNC pipe bending machines have stricter foundation requirements than you might think. Uneven or insufficiently strong ground will directly impact bending accuracy due to vibrations during operation. Medium to large-sized pipe bending machines generally require reinforced concrete foundations; a simple concrete surface won't suffice.

Space planning is also essential. Sufficient operating and maintenance space must be allocated around the machine, including electrical cabinets, hydraulic stations, and mold-changing areas. Some workshops place machines against walls to save space, resulting in cramped conditions for mold changes and making maintenance impossible.

Transportation and Positioning: Details Determine Success or Failure

When hoisting, make sure you clearly see the lifting point positions. The center of gravity of a pipe bending machine is not evenly distributed; using the wrong lifting point may cause the machine to tilt or even be damaged. Move the equipment slowly and steadily; don't try to cut corners.

Once the machine is in place, precise positioning is more important than you might think. If the position is off, the feeding rack, unloading rack, and operating platform will all be misaligned. Spending an extra ten minutes confirming the positioning will save you several hours of adjustment time later.

Anchoring Required? Don't Make Your Own Judgment

Some models require anchoring, while others do not. My advice is: follow the manufacturer's requirements, don't make your own judgment. Machines requiring anchoring will gradually shift position and accuracy will decrease if not properly secured after a period of operation. When installing anchors, ensure the drilling depth and diameter meet requirements, and tighten them evenly after leveling the machine. It is recommended to retighten after a few days of operation, as settlement may occur.

Precautions for Electrical and Hydraulic Connections

Power supply issues are common. Incorrect voltage, reversed phase, and poor grounding—these can all cause machine alarms, unstable operation, and even damage to the control system. After connecting the wires, use a multimeter to check the voltage and phase, and ensure reliable grounding before powering on.

Regarding the hydraulic system, check the oil level and inspect hoses and joints for looseness or damage. If air is not completely purged from the pipes, pressure will fluctuate during operation, and bending accuracy will be affected.

Do not skip the leveling step.

Leveling is one of the most easily overlooked yet crucial steps in the installation process. Use a precision level to check the machine tool table from multiple directions to ensure it is within the allowable level range. Even a deviation of only 0.1 millimeters can translate to a half-degree error in the bending angle. After leveling, tighten the anchor bolts and double-check for any changes in levelness.

Trial Run and First-Piece Verification

After installation, run the machine unloaded for a period of time, listening for any abnormal sounds and observing the smoothness of each axis's movement. Then, perform a bending test on a sample tube to check the angle, radius, and repeatability, confirming the installation effect.

Summary of Common Mistakes

Inadequate foundation strength and levelness are the most serious hidden dangers, difficult to remedy later; omitting the final inspection means problems such as loose bolts and leaking joints are not detected in time; failure to confirm power parameters before powering on leads to damage to the control system.

Installation is a process that can't be rushed. Properly arranging the site, transportation, anchoring, leveling, and testing are crucial for ensuring the machine's reliability in subsequent production.
